Education is the process of development which consists of the passage of the human being from infancy to maturity, and the process whereby he adapts himself gradually in various ways to his physical, social and spiritual environment. But even in this social process, the child needs support and freedom from an economic pressure, and that is why education requires long period of social as well as biological infancy when the young would live off the labour of others and be released from self-support.

Education is a life long process

However, assistance will be at least partially discounted unless education at the same time encourages wise and discriminating consumption. The child should not become a parasite. He must pay back by realising the goals and objectives that education sets for him upto his optimal capacity, sincerely and honestly. Education must focus on total and optimal development of human resource.

In its narrow sense, education refers to school instruction. In this process the elders of the society prescribe pre-determind aims to be realised during a specified time by providing pre-structured information and barning experiences to children through set methods of teaching. It is not drawing out, it is filling in, and thus hampers natural and full development of a child. Education in this sense in extrinsic and is in no way related to the child's endowments and capacities. "In narrow sense, education may be taken to mean any consciously directed effort to develop and cultivate powers."

In the wider sense, education is a process of development from cradle to the grave, a never-ending, continuous process of never-ending. continuous development. In wider sense, education is experiential. "What broadens our horizon, deepens our insight, refines our reaction and, stimulates thought and feeling, educates us."

Education is a purposeful, conscious or unconscious, deliberate or spontaneous, psychological, sociological, scientific and philosophical process which bring about the all-round development of the individual to its fullest extent in the best of his social interests in such a way that he enjoys maximum happiness and prosperity.

According to above definitions of Education we can say that: Education is important from various points of view. Its field of activity is so wide that all activities and experiences are embraced in its sphere of work. Essentially, it is a process of development, a development of the latent, inherent, capacities of a child to the fullest extent. It sublimates the animal base instincts in a child to socially useful and desirable activities, habits of thinking and behaving. It inculcates in a child higher moral and social ideas together with spiritual values, so that he is able to form a strong character useful to his own self and to the society of which he is an integral part.
